Sony has announced the launch of two new camera power supply solutions for cameras using their NP-FZ100 batteries.

The BC-ZD1 battery charger, which charges two NP-FZ100 batteries simultaneously, and the DC-C1 DC coupler, which supplies power directly to the camera body from an external power source.

Both products are already available to order and should start shipping later this month.

The Sony BC-ZD1 dual charger is priced at $119.99 in the US, £120 in the UK and €140 in Europe.

The DC-C1 DC Coupler is prices at $129.99 in the US, £130 in the UK and €150 in Europe.

Or buy a Hahnel Procube for £70 and be done with it :)

I already have 4 chargers but I could see getting the new two battery one that uses a usb c as a good travel option

I always remember reading somewhere that the Hahnel charger has no thermal protection built in, which put me off. I'm not sure if that's still the case today. But if your house hasn't burned down yet Kev I guess it's not too important :)

The dual charger looks nice, but I only have 1 battery right now and charging in camera has been sufficient for me. I will save my money this time around.

Pretty sure it has Tim. It's certainly a very good charger, and way better than this overpriced thing!

just got the Sony BC-ZD1 dual charger, while there are cheaper options, this one seems super well made, it has a some heft even though it is very small.
It is smaller than than the original single charger and would make a great travel or desktop charger. So far I am happy

I think it’s an interesting choice that the A1 II is the first Sony body to ship with the ZD1 charger. I imagine the negative comments will talk about needing two batteries (you don’t). I read it as “this is more compact and efficient for a traveller - here, you might need it”. Besides, it means I can charge batteries using the same transformer I use for my iPad or MacBook (and I imagine other brands are doing the same).

I can not believe that people are impressed that Sony include a twin charger/power supply in a camera kit that cost multiple thousands. These have been around since the a99ii and could be even longer, I still have the a99ii version and use it and the camera.

Not impressed by the dual battery charger per se. I like that we’re getting the new charger that saves us carrying another transformer. If I’m travelling internationally that means one less device that I need a plug adapter for.

I suspect your A99II cherger uses a mains power cord :)

I was expecting the A1 II to have the older one-battery-and-a-mains-plug charger. After all, I have received one of those with, um, six Alpha bodies to-date (the A7RII was the older FW50).

I was impressed that is smaller, seems better made and only needs one usbc charger and cord as opposed to two ac outlets
