I just got a Sony 90mm f/2.8 G Macro from MPB and took a few test shots in my yard. Edit - I've added whether the photos were cropped and the original dimensions of the images uploaded.)

Nicely done. Are some of these cropped? My only disappointment in the lens is the close focus distance

#1 and #5 are uncroppped. I edited the post to indicate how much each was cropped. The minimum focus distance is just a little more than the Sigma 70mm I traded and seems similar to the Tamron 90mm macro that I used on my Pentax camera. I starts shooting with the lens hood on and found it got in the way when I tried to get close to 1:1 macro shots. I plan to try focus stacking with it as well.

Ta. I never use the hood, it does get in the way and, as I always use a flash, would create shadow anyway.
The minimum focus distance is quite poor for a macro, especially when you consider that the 70-200 f4 mkII has a close focus of 1ft. I tested it, its amazing and I will most likely get ine to use for damsel and dragonflies etc.

A few more from yesterday's trip to a rose garden.

Do you use any sort of diffuser with your flash Kev? Also, what flash do you use?

No diffuser at all, though I do have the one that came with it, but I deliberately picked a lower powered flash, the Godox T350 so that it was kess likely to blow things out. It has worked well
