Hi, I unfortunately have an issue with my 600mm f4 and need to send to Sony service in Bridgend.... Anyone have any experience with sending this type of item FULLY insured ? Royal Mail is offering upto £750 and Parcelforce upto £2500, DPD cover upto £1000..... Current UK retail is £11999 I believe. Sony do not give out recommendations as to delivery company. Really not happy sending it under insured so a bit stuck, any thoughts from our UK members. thank you

be careful when sending optics in the post, make sure whatever service you use covers damage as well as loss as some don't cover damage

Hi Andrew, thank you for your reply if I ever get close to getting some kind of cover then I will bear that in mind... Fedex seem to be about the closest I can get to covering the lens but only upto £10,000. The cost to send from normal uk mainland to normal uk mainland is, wait for this £671 Think I will contact Sony to see if I can drop off for that money to be honest

I'll do it for 650!

At the moment I may take you up open that !!!!! Im assuming the big companies have separate insurance for higher value items or do they just except the odd loss and pay out ?

Don't know how it works in the UK but have you tried talking to your homeowner's insurance company? I have some of my gear covered by mine and it would cover loss through mail for repair work.
