I'm back online after a brief hiatus, and I wanted to introduce you to my daughter Isla:

What a beautiful little girl, Chris. Congratulations. I was shocked last week when I posted a food picture and it went un-noticed by you! Now I see why. You have just opened up your photographic horizons!

Chris, she's beautiful. And what a lovely name. Congratulations to everyone.

Week 33. The always fabulous Willow Emerald Damselfly.

Week 54. This young sparrowhawk knows exactly where breakfast is but isn't the best at catching it so far. I feel a little sorry for them, hopefully they've had something when I've not been watching.

Nice image Tim. She will learn quick as hunger will drive her.
Thanks Iain. Hopefully she will. There’s certainly no shortage of snacks for her in our garden. Sometimes we have 50-100 birds around the feeders at the same time!

California Big Basin Redwoods State Park partially reopened. Big Basin has been closed to the public since the CZU Lightning Complex Fire tore through the park in August 2020. Flames engulfed more than 97 percent of the park on August 18, 2020.

That is sad to see. I am a California native and lived in California for the biggest percentage of my life, yet I hyave never visited the Redwoods. That is a sad ommision.

That's right Jeff, It is so sad, but good news they are able to reopen to the public and they are working hard doing their best effort to keep it beautiful. By the way, I came to live in California in 2009.

Week 35...

Thanks Iain. Sadly I don't think we'll be seeing her again. She turned up with a damaged wing last week but our local rescue centre thought that 20 miles was too far to come out! I tried to catch her a few times myself but she was still too flighty unfortunately.

Week 55. This is Bosch a Grey Wolf who came to Wolf Watch UK from a private owner. Their 100 acre centre is situated on the Shropshire/Welsh border which provides them with a fantastic habitat. It's well worth a visit although you do need to be a member. They don't really cater for photographers so it's a case of grabbing what shots you can. This particular shot was taken through a fence.

Spudhead, the insect is a hoverfly, Volucella inanis. The larvae feed on the grubs of social wasps.

Thanks Alan I often see bugs and have no idea what they are and the same goes for birds
