Your Photo of the Week

It seems I'm single handedly posting in this thread now! I could pick so many this past week, but a quick edit while scanning my shots. Dragonflies are one of my favourite subjects, as you know. This colour of this Broad Scarlet in Spain is absolutely incredible.

I was down in Asheville NC a couple of weeks ago and walked into a bar and ordered drinks, this is what I got.

The light across the bay illuminates the sky, the reflection, the water, and, in between, a silhouette of sailing.

Just a simple moon portrait today, almost full moon.

Another simple moon portrait taken this morning. I usually mount the 200-600 after sunrise. This morning I was expecting fog so I didn't have it with me at 5:17 a.m.

As I said in another thread, I've been enjoying Sedona the past few days. I took a "selfie" with the camera perched on a rock and a 10 second timer, so forgive me if the composition is lacking. I'll make a proper forum post when I get a chance to edit the better shots I took.

Alex, I hoe you don't mind me making a suggestion. I have noticed that most of your photos are rather dark with little shadow detail, and this one is very dark - the reflections are almost black. I think it would be much improved if you adjusted the exposure in post-processing.

Little Grebe, my nemesis. This is quite typical, line up the shot, turns the head or dives. Beautiful colours on the head feathers though. Yes @Unframed Dave , this was at Clot.

Woops! I feel for you

It reminds me of a piece of advice to photographers that I once read: "First get the shot. Then worry about all the settings being right. Then try to get better shots." Aimed at at news photography, I have often remembered it in other genres. Sometimes I remember it in time; sometimes I remember it just after missing that moment.

Funny looking fungus. I have no idea what it is, but it caught my attention.

I did get proper shots too 😁

We had a trip to Holkham Park today, as it's rutting season. No rutting witnessed, but these 2 did a little pretend rut for me. Quite literally! I was photographing them as they stood next to each other looking at me, and then, as if asked, they tilted their heads down and banged antlers gently. Very cute, they are both far too young to be part of that ritual yet.

It's been a while since I've taken any photos and even longer since I've posted in this thread. I'll try to make a little more effort for the remainder of this year! Here's a shot of Rosa, one of the dogs visiting our new secure dog field this week.
