I've been trying to set up a custom button to include Silent Shutter(On). Putting the memory in M1 and storing it on my SD card as M1 works but I can't seem to assign the camera memory to a button and include silent shutter on?
I must be doing something wrong .... any thoughts?
Nov. 3 Update: I've assigned it to the first internal Memory position(1 on the mode dial) and that works. There is no way to assign it as a toggle button ie. when pressed silent shooting is on and when not pressed silent shooting is off.

On the 6100 i have found that the camera has to be in a one of the manual modes to be able to turn on "Silent shutter mode". Will not let me turn it on in Automatic.

You should be able to assign Silent Shooting to any custom button that you like. Menu > Camera Settings 2 > Custom Operation 1 > Custom Key > Now Assign Electronic Shooting to whichever button you want to use. Clicking the button will open the menu where you can select silent shooting on/off.
