I found that the new softer/larger eye cup that comes with the A1 II is the Sony FDA-EP21 (the regular one is the FDA-EP19). It's already listed on the Sony web site in my country, but without a release date or a price (just "Available Soon")

If your camera comes with an FDA-EP19 (and a number of models do: A7SIII, A7IV, A1, A7RV, A9III, at least), then you can put on the new one in its place.

My A9 III is currently sporting a third party replacement eye cup, but if the new one is as good or better I think I'll be looking to source a few of the Sony ones. You might find them in camera stores, but the other option is your friendly Sony spare parts distributor - quite possibly cheaper there.

That's good to know, thanks.

I hated the small, hard cup on my new a7iv, and I needed better light exclusion. I got a Hoodman (ask youtube which is the best one to buy) and even at import price (probably double the USA price) I consider it worth every penny/cent/paise. In other words, worth it at twice the price!

Hi all I bought an larger eye piece for my Sony A77 some years ago but when but when brought to the eye nothing could be seen not even on the screen so is there a specific large eye piece made for Sony ....... Gary

It depends on your camera. I listed the cameras I know which can use this one.

I have bought two third party eye cups in the past two years. One fitted and worked easily. The other didn’t fit (they said it would, they were wrong!).

I have no idea if this one will fit an A77

The new eyecup is now listed on the spare parts web site for Sony in Australia. If you are in another country, you should be able to find a link to your country's spare parts stockist on Sony website.

The catch is that they don't have stock or a price yet. I guess I may have to wait a bit longer to get one for the A7RV.

I tried to get a spare battery compartment door for my A7RV from this mob but they never had one listed. They did have them for some other models . I ended up getting a cheap one from China on eBay. I assumed it would be a knockoff one due to the cheap price but when it arrived it was the genuine article.
