The rumours are a bit boring at the moment - I’d like to hear something more exciting, so I thought, why don’t we speculate / articulate / discuss some things we’d like to see in future Sony announcements.

Only suggestion? Think big!

Pick up to 3 from my suggestions, or add your own (or both!)

None of the above.

I'm happy with what I have, finally.

30 fps is plenty for me. The cheaper, faster storage option would be nice, but I've invested heavily already.

Global shutter, now that I understand what that is, yes, I'd like it, would I trade in my current gear for it. No.

96mp, why and imagine the file size?

Medium format, possibly, but would it actually be medium format. None of the high street digital cameras are. If it were, would it be affordable? Would it make be take better pics?

Tilt / shift lenses. I've got one, I don't like using it, so no. Too specialised.

Sorry, the camera industry is doomed. I cannot be tempted to buy any more gear ever. Promise!

I could live with 30fps, if it was lossless compressed, instead of lossy.

Yes, the cheaper "MF" cameras are even smaller than APS-C vs FF. There are real MF digital cameras, but yeah, they are seriously pricy.

Sad that the entire camera industry is depending on your purchases. I thought I was supporting them.

Is there nothing you want?

Even the pricy MF cameras aren't medium format. Check the sensor sizes out and compare them to MF film. They are bigger than 35mm, but they definitely aren't MF.

No, I am positive that it is me that's keeping them afloat, ask my other half. In all seriousness, there is nothing else needed to take good shots, we already have way more than we can need. It is only marketing now, they are convincing us that we need more in order to keep them going.

I want a good lightweight bag with wheels and rucksack straps. Ideally make it modular so that I only need one bag.

Nothing else.

An A7V with a part-stacked sensor
Huh? Stacked sensors in simple terms split the work between the sensors. This could make for some wacky looking images/video.

Cinema primes, without the ludicrous prices
Why can't it be the super telephoto primes? You can buy a couple cinema primes for 1 of the super tele

So this: Farpoint® Wheeled Travel Carry-On 36L/21.5"

What I would prefer is that flights and tours be cheaper with me having the vacation time to go on them without using all my days off at once.

Thanks very much, that could be just y
the thing.

I thought the Phase One sensor was the size of the used area of 645 format? (and 645 is real medium format)

Long term, I'm going to be really boring and say I want the next compact body, whether it be an A7C-III or an A6900 to have double the resolution (or more) on both EVF and rear screen. By the time Sony actually does this, I'll probably need prescription glasses anyway.

In the near term, I'd love for ANY manufacturer to make an APSC 70-200 f2.8

I can relate to that! I'm glad my cameras have the 9Mdot EVF. Not sure if Sony can fit that into a compact body.

When you say 70-200 APS-c - I take it you mean 47- 133mm? Perhaps rounded to 50-135?

Glad I'm not the only one who sees (no pun intended) the need for a better EVF and screen. Manual focusing on these compact bodies is a bit sloppy; I use focusing peaking and hope for the best, but can't tell until I download the images.

As for the 70-200, I mean just that. I have a 17-70 (full frame equivalent of 25-ish to 105mm) and I'd like a 70-200mm f2.8 lens to complement that without having to rent the big full frame lens. An APSC specific 70-200 lens would be smaller and lighter than the FE lens. Maybe 20-25% lighter? No idea what the cost would be though. I'd even accept a 70-150 as long as it's f2.8 and designed for APSC.

Or perhaps you're hinting at it, and I should just make do with, the Samyang 35-150mm f2-f2.8? How does that compare in size to Sony's 70-200?

I wasn't hinting at it, but I think it's interesting that the 35-150 would be pretty close to the field of view of the 70-200 on FF, but with a bit extra at both ends.

Problem is that the 35-150 is somewhat notorious for being a heavy lens at 1.165kg - that's actually more that Sony's 70-200 GM II.

So, a 70-200 with an APS-C image circle. "Equivalent" to 105-300mm. I owned a 100-300 f/4 Sigma lens a long time ago, using it on a Canon DSLR. It's a useful telephoto range. Canon brought one out not long ago in RF mount, but it's a serioulsy heavy lens - over 2.5kg. Again, a good argument for get an APS-C version.
