Walking through the rainforest and this thing was standing there. It didn't even look real! It's called a Green Catbird, I've never even heard of one before. Their call sounds like a cat meow!

The bugger wasn't in a good position for a great shot but I was at least lucky that he was nice and calm for a couple of minutes which allowed me to do the best I could with what I had there.

I don't think it sounds like a cat, but it's bloody spooky..!

Haha - what a nice fella. Never seen that before. Interesting bird - you are really lucky to have all that special wildlife in Australia! Also - nice picture!

Hectic looking thing it was, very surreal. Cheers mate. 🌞

a Green Catbird

That is magnificent! Love that pic.

BTW, whenever I see this thread my brain parses the title as non-birds in flight, ie flying things that are not birds, rather than Birds Not-in-flight.

The content goes to show that, whether pedantically correct or not, I am the only one that has this problem :ROFLMAO:

These two male Hooded Mergansers seem to be the primary -- final? -- competitors in the selection of a new mate process....Earlier I had watched , fascinated, as several other males eventually swam away and as these two were jousting and showing off while the coy female preened and flirted. Although I watched all through the ensuring action there didn't seem to be a resolution with regard to who chose whom and as far as I could tell there may be another round in this intriguing mating ritual. In the meantime, here are these two guys staring each other down while the female, smiling to herself, casually swims away.....but only a short distance.
