Perched Snail Kite - They are common in Central and South America but in the U.S. they occur only in Florida and are listed as Federally Endangered. The highly specialized Snail Kite flies on broad wings over tropical wetlands as it hunts large freshwater snails. Unlike most other raptors, Snail Kites nest in colonies and roost communally, sometimes among other waterbirds such as herons and Anhingas. They are common in Central and South America but in the U.S. they occur only in Florida and are listed as Federally Endangered. Sony a7Rv

So there was this rock off the jetty that the Harlequin Ducks would use for doing duck things. One or two would be up there a little while then get off back into the water and another one would go up. After about a half hour of this the group all started to head off to somewhere else and that is when a Ruddy Turnstone decided it would look for some food there. Well the Harlequin Ducks weren't having any of that:

Of course the Ruddy just waited and then came back:

I saw something fly into my back yard as I arrived home this afternoon. I went in and grabbed my camera and was able to get a couple of shots of this red-shouldered hawk perched in a tree in the yard. [Edited to correct species]

Nice shot, but I think what you have there is a Red-shouldered hawk.

We're having "snow showers" today and this little male Hoodie isn't too happy about it!
