  1. Yes
First of this is not for you poor bugger or looking for sympathy in any way It is just to let you know why I might be missing for a while. Unless I find a nicer older shot.

I had a shower (yes I do that regularly) and somehow I lost my balance and down I went. Along with this stone you use to smooth the hard skin on your feet. That got crushed up and cut my finger in a few places. The Shower Caddy got bent up beyond repair (the wife tried to fix it). The shower hose got caught up in my arm some how and somehow it never broke.

And down I went, now I am 117 kilos so no light weight and the shower curtain got stuck to me or I grabbed it and this came down. Hitting hard and feeling every new bruise that was coming out. My ankle must of went on to the water grate and cut my ankle.
I called out for the wife who thought it looked like a slaughter room due to the blood. She gathered herself and then tried to get me up. My left wrist which is stuffed already was feeling real bad and once up there was an egg on my left ankle.
The wife dried and dressed me then rang for an ambulance. But as they said they were all too busy. They just never thought my case was important enough. So I told her I will just try to go to sleep and go to the hospital in the morning (9.30pm). But half an hour later I struggled out and said I couldn't handle it all. So into the car, up to the hospital.

Once in I got a brain scan (nothing in there though) and then x-rays and after this I was on an ECG all night. The nurse I had that night was back in on the morning and she told me as I didn't know nothing but I had a badly sprained left wrist and a broken ankle. After a few more hours I was out and going home.

So I may be a little slack in posting for a while.

Damn Ralph. Hope you recover soon.

Sorry Ralph, that's got to sting a bit.

Take some rest for a while. Get yourself mended.

Really sorry to hear that @Ralph. I enjoy your posts & photos. Put your feet up & take it easy for a while (I know, I don’t like doing that either). I hope you have a swift recovery & are up & about again soon.

You certainly know how to knock yourself up good and proper Ralph! I hope you make a speedy recovery and aren’t in too much discomfort in the meantime.

Sorry to hear that Ralph. Count yourself lucky you weren't more seriously hurt. Get better soon mate. Use the time to process some of your old shots.

Sounds like your ambulance service is on par with ours ... Any way wish you a speedy recovery .... Gary

I'm sorry to hear that, hope you're not too shaken up and recover soon.

How are your injuries now, hopefully easing?

take it easy ,think all showers baths should have a hand rail ,friend of mine has recently done exactly the same thing on holiday in france she pulled the showwr of the wall and pulled the shower curtain down easily done ,

Ouch! I feel for you. I don't know your age but I am 81. A year ago I took a fall that had a lot of implications, one of which was a personal wake-up call, "Be very careful!" One of the best things that I did when I moved in here 7 years ago was to have a grab bar installed in the shower. It's a potential life saver, even more so if you are on blood thinners as I am. Get well soon.

Sounds like a time to take up indoor macro
I really would like to do that but at this minute our money is going into the wife traveling but this could help get me that lens I need to is could work out well both ways.

That wasn't quite the word I used as it happened but the meaning was the same.
Damn Ralph. Hope you recover soon.
Here in my town once you seem to hit the 60is area they tend to say without saying it you are that old now you can live with it. I had to see my own doctor and I called the Ortho who seen me an arrogant prick. I know that didn't go down well but they have over a 100 people in a day so you are just a number.
Sorry Ralph, that's got to sting a bit.

Honestly I think it is just what I needed as I wasn't really enjoying going out. So it could work out good.
Really sorry to hear that @Ralph. I enjoy your posts & photos. Put your feet up & take it easy for a while (I know, I don’t like doing that either). I hope you have a swift recovery & are up & about again soon.
Thanks for saying that as it is really appreciated. My favourite bird came for a visit and they are normally much closer to the river but it was about 5 or so kilometers from the river. So I think it was telling me to hang in there as well. Well this is what I am putting it down to ever if I am wrong I can think it.
I wish you a speedy recovery Ralph!
Thank you so much
Hope it doesn't stop your photography for too long and you recover quick.
When the Kookaburra came for a visit I got a few one handed shots of it and they turned out okay for me. Thanks so much as well.
You certainly know how to knock yourself up good and proper Ralph! I hope you make a speedy recovery and aren’t in too much discomfort in the meantime.
Tim the funny thing is one of my Granddaughters is just as clumsy. So I think I need to get Mr. Clumsy Tattoo as a reminder.
You really are having a rough time of it lately Ralph. Hope you heal swiftly, and well.
Thanks for that and getting older the healing rate slows down a lot but I will get through it in time

You are so right on that one as the toilet bowl was in hitting ranger as were our glass weight scales. So I was lucky not to hit them.

I think this Ambo thing is a pandemic on they just don't get looked after as should be.
I'm sorry to hear that, hope you're not too shaken up and recover soon.

In all honesty the last week has been really hard to handle but I get up ready to fight the next day.

We do have a hand rail in the shower area and I was on one foot trying to clean it and down I went. With luck the shower hose which somehow got under my are but never broke off So one major blessing.

The house what we moved into was built for someone in a wheelchair so it has rails. I am 66 now and here this makes doctor less caring unless you are about to die. Anything like this they don't say it but they mean for you to carry on without any help from them. And so far I am not on the blood thinners as if I was there would have been so much more blood in there as the wife thought it looked like a murder had happenin there just from my ankle.

I hope you’re starting to feel a bit better…

Each year the wife goes up to NSW by Maitland. And helps out with the kids getting their photo's taken with Santa.
I was going to go this year and while they worked I was going to go mainly birding.
The thing is I believe in safety and as it was before I had a real hard time taking off the left boot.
With this it is going to make it impossible, so I am staying home again as the boot will not go on nor off.
And I even might be missing out on summer this year as on slight twist and I will be in a far worse position.
So to miss a little to gain on the end seems like the right move to me.
Around home we have a few good dirt roads where I might be able to get a few shot from out the windows.

Well, you are a poor bugger and I am sorry for you and wish you a speedy recovery.

Had my own modest fall a couple of days ago when jumping around fixing the pump that stops us getting flooded in heavy rains. Only bruises and grazes. Schoolboy stuff. But schoolboy stuff at over 70! It does make one think.

All the best!

As my wife said to me earlier this year, at our age we don't tend to bounce back so much as go splat. Heal quickly Thad.

Take it easy mate, a bit of TLC goes a long way at any age, get well soon.

I had another fall about a week ago too. This one was walking backwards, camera in hand, forgetting there was a step behind me. It was really trivial, not even a bump to show for it. Main thing was that I was determined that the camera should not hit the ground. And I succeeded :D.

Ralph, about fifteen years my wife told me that she dreamt that I had slipped in the shower, and I never forgot that. So far so good, but I mustn't let the guard down. I hope your hurts are getting better today.
