Birds Birds Non-BIF Thread - Post Your Shots Here

Nice shot, but I think what you have there is a Red-shouldered hawk.
Oops, you are correct. I posted this photo from earlier after getting home from seeing a red-tailed hawk in flight and had it on my mind. I've corrected the post. Here is the Red-Tailed Hawk I saw in flight.

I also saw several sparrows including this fox sparrow. This is the first time I have seen and photographed this species.

I caught this lesser redpoll this morning munching on some seeds in our local woods. Unfortunately they were pretty shaded hence the high ISO but I've not photographed one before so happy just to get the shots.

And here's a little dipper down on the local river early yesterday morning, again the light wasn't great unfortunately so I dropped the shutter speed down to 1/100.

These long-tailed tits are winter visitors to our garden. Unfortunately the top part of our garden never see's the sun at this time of year so they are in the shade. But the sun was lighting up the woodland in the background.

not seen one of these little guys in months nice Tim
That's a shame Gary, they are pretty little things. I'm guessing you have lots of suet balls? That's all they eat in our garden. They seem to arrive in late November and disappear again in March. I guess there are plenty of other food sources for them over the warmer months.

I like pocket size birds.

Trudged through freezing rain and 30 cm (12") of snow and got this Common Loon with its breakfast.

Some peacocks were wandering this park in Porto so I thought about giving bird photography a try. Not my usual type of photography, please excuse my lack of knowledge.

It was pretty gloomy out today, so the white underbelly really caught my eye in the distance.

I rarely crop to show only part of a bird or animal. Here's an attempt.
This juvenile Bald Eagle in the rain reminded me of a DC Comics superhero.
